Lace and pleats

This is actually what I'm going to wear tomorrow to a concert for Eliza and the Bear. I'd spent so long and had many failed attempts at finding this American Apparel skirt on ebay at a reasonable price, so in the end I gave up my search and decided to make one instead. So here is the finished result....Although my original plan was to do smaller pleats, I kind of messed it up by cutting out the wrong sized pieces, but I actually think it turned out quite nice with the bigger pleats anyway. Along with this, I found this lace top in the charity shop the other day for £4.50, and of course I'm wearing my new favourite boots from Office.

Floral dress

It finally stopped raining for 10 minutes today so I could take these photos. Unfortunately, because of my terrible organisational skills this dress is about a month too late so you'll just have to pretend it's still summer, ok!? Anyway, so I made this dress from this incredible floral fabric. It was a bit too overpowering on it's own so I added grey panels on the sides (something new but I actually really enjoyed doing it) and then finally a lining. Pretty pleased and I can't wait to wear it (even if it isn't until next summer...!).

New Boots

I've actually got quite a few new clothes lined up but due to the fact that I get back at 5 each day and then have to complete coursework, I've only just got around to taking some more photos...
I actually ordered these boots a while ago from Office but they were too big so I had to exchange them for a smaller size and they finally arrived! Really pleased with them as they go with most things. I saw this fabric in the fabric shop and couldn't resist buying it and making this skirt. It's a great transitional piece especially since it's been so warm recently (...is it really October tomorrow!?). For the colder mornings though, I have been wearing my favourite white coat which I bought last year from Rokit.

LFW Highlights

I didn't actually get the chance to go to London Fashion Week this season as I was so busy with college and everything else, but I still found the time to have a look at all of the scheduled shows. As usual, I picked out some of my highlights from the five days....

River Island Skirt

It's been incredibly busy recently and I haven't had any time to blog or read posts....the main news is that I started my art foundation course on Monday which involved starting off with a 3D taster session they gave us (I think it's fair to say that I'm not going to be choosing that route to specialise in...). So there's that, plus most of my friends are heading off to uni all over the country while I'm staying at home and I've been trying to meet up with them as much as possible before I have to say goodbye for 3 months (it's all very sad...).
On a brighter note, I have lots of new clothes to blog about, including this wonderful skirt from River Island. I also picked up one of the classic Topshop crop tops (which I'm sure every blogger has) in 'light grey' though I'd say it's more of a pale blue... I was keen to get some heels/sandals that weren't too high but were still nice to wear on a night out and luckily I found these in New Look the other day.

Lace coord

I was obsessed with the 90s trends this summer (especially square necklines) so I decided to experiment and make this crop top, which soon turned into a co-ord. I used a white lace and layered it over some plain black fabric to create this effect. I'd never make this style before but it turned out surprisingly well and I can definitely imagine myself wearing this look on a night out.

Zara Sale

I still can't believe that my first full day of university is on Thursday! I'm also starting a new job so there's a lot of new things happening right now. And I went fabric shopping today so more clothes to make!
Although I absolutely love Zara, I don't think I've ever bought anything from there as it's not exactly cheap. However, I went shopping a couple of weeks ago and headed straight to the sale rack where I managed to find this skirt for just £10 and a dress which I'll post another time. I also bought this mesh crop top on ebay for £3 which I really like. I am aware I've worn this necklace in my last couple of posts but it's just so good to pair with and it's not too little or too much. I can't wait to get into Autumn/Winter and buy some new boots, though I'm dreading having to wear tights every day!
